Toyota’s first electric car, the bZ4X, offers a comfortable ride, a spacious cabin, and agile acceleration… but fails to meet consumer expectations. The SUV has a disappointing highway range of 228 miles with all-wheel drive (or dual motors) and 252 miles with front-wheel drive (or single motor).

It also has limited brake regeneration and an oddly placed instrument panel that includes a complicated gear selector and charges more slowly than most competitors. The electric SUV market is too crowded for the bZ4X to take its place.
