The Ford Escape offers a variety of powertrain options, from a turbocharged 1.5-liter three-cylinder engine to a turbocharged 2.0-liter inline-four engine, to hybrid and plug-in hybrid models. Despite its attractive design and spacious cabin, lower trim levels come with a lot of hard plastics in the cabin. In addition, the ride is unnecessarily harsh.

All in all, while this compact SUV meets the basic requirements of the segment, it can’t match the refinement, pleasant driving dynamics, and upscale features of its top competitors in the same class.
